The City of McAllen has formed a census committee with community members in government, business, education, religion, community based organizations, and media to coordinate the 2010 Census count April 1, 2010. 1) The Census data is relied upon for federal funds awarded to states and communities. 2) The Census data guides planning of roads, hospitals and schools. 3) The census data affects our voice in Congress. 4) The Census data is confidential and protected by federal law.
