Overview The McAllen Fire Department has a limited but important role in the development process. The Fire Prevention Division of the McAllen Fire Department is involved in the subdivision and pre-permit reviews to insure public safety. Anyone having questions pertaining to fire protection on subdivisions or pre-permit issues should contact the Fire Prevention Division. Fire Prevention Permit Review Process (for permits that require Fire Sprinkler, Fire Alarm or Automatic Extinguishing Systems) - Building Department Plan Examiner sets requirements or condition for new construction or remodeling.
- Any permit that requires fire sprinkler, fire alarm or automatic extinguishing systems such as kitchen hood systems are reviewed by the Fire Prevention Division.
- The Fire Inspector reviews the permits and adds comments or conditions to the permits.
Pre-Permit Reviews Fire Prevention personnel review subdivision plats to add comments or conditions. We also answer any questions pertaining to fire protection issues concerning to new subdivisions.
