McAllen’s Heart of the City Development Corporation in association with Sir Kingston.com is hosting the first annual Drop the Ball New Year’s Eve Bash in downtown McAllen. The bash and festivities begin at 7:00pm on December 31st and end at 2am January 1, 2009. The Ball-Dropping event is free and open to the public.
The City of McAllen will now have a new fishing pond and camping site for thousands of McAllen area children. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission awarded $1.6 million in state funding to the City of McAllen to build and improve the historic McAllen’s Firemen Park.
The McAllen Parks and Recreation Department is celebrating the 23rd Anniversary of the International Friendship Run, a 10K race that starts along the Mexico border and ends in McAllen, Texas. The International Friendship Run will start at Anzalduas Park in Mission at 8:00 AM and finish in McAllen at Los Encinos Park on Sunday, November 23, 2008. The International Friendship Run is the premiere running event in South Texas.
