Ghostly Encounters at City Hall?
At McAllen City Hall, where one of the area's first hospitals once stood, employees have learned to co-exist with "ghostly spirits" who pay regular visits to their departments.
Several of them claim they've have had hair raising experiences, heard sounds of shuffling papers and crying and even say they've seen human like apparitions. A maintenance technician, working alone one evening, even quit after hearing what sounded like a voice calling her name. She had only been on the job for one week.
Donna Ennis, a paranormal investigator with the Lower Rio Grande Valley Paranormal Society, interviewed by the McAllen Cable Network, believes the "intelligent hauntings" are residual energy left behind from the old McAllen General Hospital. The building was demolished in 1993 and then the current City Hall was built on the grounds.
Ennis said, based on the accounts she's heard, the so called spirits are not here to harm anyone, they just want to be acknowledged.
