City Employees Donate To Locks of Love
To provide hair pieces to children under 18 with medical hair loss, several McAllen City employees partnered with a local salon to donate their pony tails to Locks of Love, Tuesday.
Locks of Love is a non-profit corporation that mostly assists children with a hair loss condition called Alopecia Areata, for which there is no known cause or cure. The donated hair will provide custom, vacuum fitted cranial prostheses wigs.
Jorge Garcia, who owns “Jorge Garcia Master of Color” salon provided the haircuts to the registered volunteers.
The event was organized by Human Resource Recruiter Ingrid Martinez, who donated 10 inches of her own hair. An emotional Martinez said she was inspired to donate following a visit to the hair salon with her daughter.
