Pet owners are invited to bring their cats and dogs to a series of rabies clinics, hosted by the McAllen Police Department and its Animal Control division, March 3 to March 31, 2012.
The intent of the clinics is to prevent human deaths caused by bites from animals infected with rabies. Having pets vaccinated is also required by Texas law and by the City of McAllen code of ordinances.
Domestic animals could potentially contract rabies from infected bats, oppossums, and raccoons in our area.
The cost for a one year vaccination for licensed pets, between the ages of four months and one year old, is $7.00 dollars. For a 3-year vaccination for licensed pets, over one year old, the cost is $15 dollars.
Clinics will be held from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm:
Saturday, March 3, Fire Station #5, 5521 N. 23rd Street
Saturday, March 10, Fire Station #6, 5500 S. 23rd Street
