Nolana Bridge Closure Pushed Back to Week of Aug. 1-7
Three construction projects along Nolana Avenue are expected to cause delays for drivers, through late August.
The first project requires demolition of a bridge along Nolana Avenue, east of Bicentennial Boulevard. Traffic lanes on the bridge have been reduced and are expected TO COMPLETELY CLOSE on the week of August 1 through August 7, for one week. Drivers are encouraged to begin looking for alternate routes.
The second project includes the resurfacing of Nolana from 23rd Street to Jackson Road. The portion between 23rd and Bicentennial is scheduled for work form July 11 to July 15. The portion between Bicentennial and Jackson is scheduled for work from July 18 to July 29. This project involves night work, so drivers are reminded to use caution in work zones and to obey all traffic signs.
In addition to the re-surfacing, Nolana Avenue will be re-striped to 7 lanes, from 23rd Street to Jackson Road.
The third project includes improvements for Bentsen Road. The intersection of Bentsen and Nolana will be closed for work from July 25 through August 15.
Anyone who has questions about the Nolana Avenue construction bridge project can call the City of McAllen Engineering Department at (956) 681-1150 and ask for Mario Cruz or Ramon Navarro. For the Nolana/Bentsen road closure, contact Jeremy Santoscoy.
