Robots Are Taking Over International Museum of Art & Science

Robots have found their way into the Rio Grande Valley! The International Museum of Art & Science will be hosting the traveling exhibit Robots + Us (Robots and Us) beginning Saturday, February 11, 2012 until Sunday, May 27, 2012.

Developed by the Science Museum of Minnesota and currently on a national tour, Robots + Us takes visitors on a journey in which human reality and sci-fi fantasy meet. Visitors will have the chance to see the world through a robot’s eyes. They will be able to interact with a computer avatar, compete against an industrial robot arm, chat with a robot in the Cyborg Café, plus, much more hands-on activities!

Susan Zwerling, Director of Education and Public Programs states, “Robots + Us is a fantastically interactive experience that challenges each one of us to envision a future world and to explore crucial questions such as the role of artificial intelligence, the possibility that machines could replace humans, or even that cyborgs could be part of a new society.”

IMAS invites the public to their ribbon-cutting ceremony on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at noon in to give welcome to Robots + Us. After the ceremony the exhibit will be open to the public.

Robots + Us will be on display at IMAS until Sunday, May 27, 2012. Robots + Us will have a special admission fee of $3/Child (4-12 years) and $5/Adult. For more information, please call (956) 682-0123 or visit www.imasonline.org.
