UPS has begun a new daily cargo flight to McAllen Miller International Airport, connecting shippers in the Rio Grande Valley even faster with customers in the Yangtze River Valley, Rhine River Valley and other valleys around the world.
The new daily UPS air service offers south Texas customers later pickup times and connects them in mere hours to 220 countries and territories around the world. Customers will enjoy 88,000 pounds of capacity and 15 cargo positions on the new Boeing 757 route, which will fly directly to Worldport, UPS’s all-points international air hub in Louisville, Ky.
“UPS is pleased to add McAllen to our global logistics network,” said UPS Airlines President Mitch Nichols. “We look forward to enhancing service to our south Texas customers from this new gateway.”
To support the daily flight, which began Feb. 6, UPS has leased 2,025 feet of airport warehouse space for small package and air freight operations, aircraft maintenance and offices. The company also has leased 26,000 feet of ramp space for ground support equipment staging.
“We’re grateful to the city of McAllen's Aviation Department for working with us so well as we have established our new facility,” Nichols added.
