29th Street Sanitary Sewer Project Nears Completion

Mayor Pro Tem and District 3 City Commissioner Hilda Salinas recently updated McAllen residents on the status of the 29th Street Sanitary Sewer Project. Watch this video clip, produced by the McAllen Cable Network.

Project Notes:

The south 29th St. Sewer Project is in its final stages pending only a few important items. The installation of a deep manhole at the intersection of Ebony Avenue and S. 29th St. is expected to be completed during the last week of March. Also, the installation of a new 8-inch waterline from Galveston Avenue to Business Highway 83 is scheduled to begin the first week of April and last about a week.

Once these items are completed, a new asphalt overlay of 29th St. will be laid from Galveston Avenue to Business Highway 83 with a half-street overlay from Galveston Avenue south to US Expressway 83.

In closing out this project, the existing lift station at 29th St. & Ebony Ave. will finally be demolished and removed, allowing for gravity flow of sewer without the need for electricity or maintenance costs. General Site clean-up will be the last part of the contractor's task assuring residents and city staff that area is left free of debris, equipment, materials.
