McAllen Public Library Director Jose Gamez Retires

McAllen Public Library Director Jose Gamez, who recently announced his retirement, said his goodbyes to city staff, Friday.

Gamez worked with the City of McAllen for 6 years. His most notable achievements during his tenure included his involvement with the planning of the new McAllen Public Library and the transition from the old main library into the new one.

Gamez said he plans to spend more time with his family and enjoy his retirement.

Kate Horan will serve as interim library director while the City of McAllen searches for Gamez' replacement.
