The NBA Development League Rio Grande Valley Vipers, the single-affiliate of the Houston Rockets will host an exhibition game between the Houston Rockets and the Oklahoma City Thunder October 10, at State Farm Arena.
Tickets for the event, dubbed Rocket Launch 2012, are on sale right now.
“The Vipers are excited to once again offer basketball fans in the Rio Grande Valley the opportunity to experience the Houston Rockets training camp and live NBA entertainment,” Vipers president Bert Garcia said. “The previous two Rocket Launches were a success and we are looking forward to seeing the Rockets and Thunder hit the hardwood, right here in the valley.”
Rocket Launch 2012 will include the Houston Rockets training camp (October 2-6, at the McAllen Convention Center), along with a preseason exhibition game featuring the rivaling Houston Rockets and Oklahoma City Thunder on October 10, 2012 at State Farm Arena. Tickets to the game start at $30 and can be purchased through Ticketmaster, at the Vipers Pro Shop or by calling 956-972-1144.
“We are thrilled once again to return to The Valley this fall for training camp as well as this preseason game against one of the Western Conference’s most exciting, young teams, the Oklahoma City Thunder,” said Rockets General Manager Daryl Morey. “The relationship between the Rockets and Vipers grows stronger with each passing year, and we look forward to working with Alonzo and his staff to continue providing Rio Grande Valley basketball fans with great game experiences.”
The last Rocket Launch was held in October 2010 and featured the Rockets vs. the Orlando Magic. The Magic topped the Rockets 97-88. In the fall of 2009, the Rockets faced off against the Boston Celtics and won 98-90.
