New Design for DeLeon Soccer Complex Expansion Proposed
McAllen city commissioners viewed an updated proposal by the parks and recreation department to expand the DeLeon Soccer complex that would include more "wow amenities".
Presenting at a city workshop, McAllen Parks and Recreation Director Sally Gavlik said the new complex would be a state of the art attraction for the City of McAllen and it would meet the needs of McAllen ISD, which owns part of the adjacent property where it would be built.
If commissioners and school board members approve the proposed design, the Parks and Recreation department could begin soliciting construction bids as early as this fall.
The proposed site plan includes adding 8 adult fields, adding 2 youth fields, converting the DeLeon stadium into a championship field with synthetic turf for soccer and football, new restrooms, a concessions building with meeting room, cooling fountains, and additonal parking to the areas west and north of DeLeon Middle School.
