$27M Airport Expansion, Renovation Project Begins

Construction on the $27 million terminal expansion and renovation project, at McAllen International Airport, is now underway. It includes adding 55,000 square feet of new space and renovating 40,000 square feet of existing space.

Some of the project highlights include the addition of a sixth boarding gate, additional passenger holding space, and a widening of the security checkpoint. Upon completion, airport passengers will also see expanded concessions past the security checkpoint, signage improvements and other amenity upgrades throughout the airport.

The baggage holding area will get upgraded with the latest scanning technology, too. The project is slated for completion in March of 2014.
