McAllen FD Promotes Change Your Clock, Change Your Battery
With the end of Daylight Saving Time (DST) ending this Sunday, November 4, 2012 at 2:00 am, the McAllen Fire Department takes the opportunity to promote "Change Your Clock, Change Your Battery".
"Change Your Clock, Change Your Battery" reminds everyone to not only move their clocks BACK ONE HOUR (at bedtime Saturday night) but to also change the battery on each smoke or carbon monoxide detector in the home. McAllen Fire Department Lieutenant Rene Alaniz said firefighters are even offering to change alarm batteries for residents who aren't physically able to change out their own batteries.
"In addition to having an operable smoke/carbon monoxide detector, families should also have a home fire escape plan and that plan should include two ways out of each room of the home," said Lt. Alaniz. "If a window is being used as a way out, homeowners should make sure that the window opens easily."

Residents who need assistance with changing their alarm batteries can schedule an appointment for a home visit with McAllen Fire Department Deputy Chief of Operations Amado Cano at (956) 681-2500.
