Refer to the following recommended steps and contact Animal Control if encountering any bat. Call Animal Control, 956-681-2124, Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and after hours and weekends contact the non-emergency number at the McAllen Police Department, 956-681-2000. This advisory was prompted by McAllen PD after two bats discovered in the downtown area tested positive for rabies by the Texas Department of State Health Services.
