by McAllen Convention Center | Jun 02, 2014

Share the excitement of the World Cup with the biggest World Cup Party in Texas. The City of McAllen will host a press conference Tuesday June 3, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. to announce that the McAllen Convention Center has been selected as an official viewing site for the FIFA World Cup™.

The press conference will take place at the bandstand of Oval Park outside of the Convention Center. The City of McAllen is one of a few select cities in the United States to host an outdoor public viewing approved through FIFA. Spectators are urged to bring their favorite team jerseys to the announcement.

The FIFA World Cup™ is the most watched sporting event in the world.  With both USA and Mexico soccer teams playing in the World Cup, hundreds of people are expected to show up for the free broadcasts. The public viewings will also take place in the Oval Park at the Convention Center. The area will be fenced in and the games will be broadcast on an 18’ x 12’ LED screen.
