Recycling Center
The McAllen Recycling Center received recognition from the Texas Environmental Excellence Award Blue Ribbon Committee for its "Save the Greens" program, an effort to develop creative and economical ways to encourage environmentally friendlier practices, promote stewardship and resource conservation. The Recycling Center also runs a compost facility and over 20,000 tons of brush and yard waste were composted rather than sent to landfills in fiscal year 2006-2007.
Museum Exhibitions
The International Museum of Art and Science guides its collecting interest towards obtaining Fine Art, Folk Art, Decorative Art, Pre-Columbian and scientific objects from all parts of the globe, with the primary focus being the Americas. This interest is realized by the collection, which consists of examples of Folk Art, including ceramics and masks, and an impressive array of scientific specimens, including a large assortment of geological samples. This collection is further enhanced by an eclectic assortment of fire art works on paper, paintings and sculpture by local, national and international artists.
McAllen Miller International Airport
The Rio Grande Valley is a culturally rich and diverse area that stretches from Roma, Texas to Brownsville, Texas. The McAllen-Miller International Airport (MFE) is a regional air transportation node that is conveniently located in the center of the Rio Grande Valley, seven miles from Reynosa, Mexico and three international bridges, two miles from the center of the City of McAllen, 1/4 mile from highway US 83, and walking distance from hotels, the valley's largest mall, and numerous restaurants.

Keep McAllen Beautiful, Inc. is an educational, non-profit organization that develops and expands the awareness of McAllen's citizens and visitors about littering and proper waste disposal, and promotes the preservation of McAllen's natural beauty.
