T.A.A.F. Programs

Tennis

Divisions: Tiny Tots / Youth / Teens / Adults
Discover the lifetime sport of tennis. Classes are designed to prepare the advanced player for match play and introduce the beginner to fun filled court action. This program will provide instruction in the forehand, backhand, and serve. Classes will progress to rally, basic court position play and court strategy. For the Tiny Tots (4 - 6 years), an introduction to the basic elements of tennis will be taught. Specially designed equipment will be used on modified courts. Racquets will be available for the Tiny Tots.

Team Tennis

For the experienced tennis players (ages 8 years - senior adults) who want to improve their strokes, game strategy, and ball placement while working towards regional and state competitions.

Golf

Divisions: Youth / Teens / Adults
(Youth, Teens, & Adults) Beginner and Intermediate lessons will provide an introduction to the fundamentals of golf. Lessons will cover stance, grip, etiquette and rules. Golf balls and some clubs are furnished.

Team Golf

For the experienced golfers (ages 10-18 years) who want to improve their game play and strategy while working toward area and state competitions. A point system from tournament play will assist in team selection to the Games of Texas.

Summer Swim Team

Those individuals wishing to swim competitively are encouraged join the City of McAllen T.A.A.F. Swim Team. Certified coaches will conduct workouts, help improve swimming skills and work individually with swimmers to help them become the best they can be. Swim meets will be held with other swim teams throughout the Summer. Participants must be able to swim 50 yards, comfortably, and have no fear of the water. Swimmers cannot have participated in U.S.S. swim meets in the past year.

Track and Field

2010 Results: TAAF Region 2 Meet Results

Participants will train at Memorial High School's "Alfredo 'Boxer' Hernandez" Stadium, under the direction of former Memorial High School Coach Tony Trejo. This program will enable participants to improve form, time, and distances.
