Doggie Day at the Pool
Doggie Day at the Pool is an annual event for dogs and their owners to have some fun in the sun prior to Los Encinos Pools’ annual fall cleaning. Dogs get to swim while owners get to meet other dog owners. Open swim will be a part of the day’s fun-filled activities. Dog owners are welcome to bring water toys for their pooches! Doggie Day at the Pool will be held at Los Encinos Pool (3300 Sarah Ave.) on Saturday, September 10th, 2011 from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m.
Fishin' Buddies Fishing Derby
The Fishin’ Buddies Fishing Derby presented by Academy Sports + Outdoors is designed to teach young people the value of the great outdoors while providing a hands-on fishing experience. Children between the age of four and thirteen are eligible to participate. Trophies are awarded to winners in three age categories. Winners are determined by the number and/or size of fish caught over an allotted time. The 2011 Kids Fishing Derby will be held in the Fall. Call (956) 681-3333 for registration information. Come join the fun every Saturday evening at Archer Park (101 N. Main Street) during June and July and watch a movie on the big screen. Pack your picnic basket, some blankets and bring out the whole family for some big screen favorites. Call the Parks & Recreation Department for this summer's movie schedule. All features start at dusk (approximately 8:30 p.m.) ADMISSION IS FREE!!!!
