Overview The McAllen Police Department conducts local criminal background checks and clearance letters* during normal business hours. Criminal History requests are only created with the subject’s authorization. All third party requests must be accompanied by a notarized authorization release form from the subject being inquired upon. Request for Background Checks / Clearance Letters By mail or in-person only. Download the Public Information Request Form and complete. Proper Identification is required to complete a criminal history request (i.e. Driver’s License, State issued ID, military ID, Alien registration card, and/or Passport. All identification must be current and valid in order to process your request. Copies of Proper Identification are required for all third party requests.
