Child Safety Seat Checkup Event

by Public Information Office | Sep 09, 2015

The Fire Department along with the traffic department is coordinating a Child Safety Seat Checkup Event to be held on Tuesday, September 15 from 9 a.m. to  12 p.m. and Saturday, September 19 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The event will be held at the McAllen Fire Department Central Station located at 201 N. 21st Street.

Child safety seat checkups and inspection stations provide parents and caregivers with the opportunity to have their child's safety seat checked by a nationally certified child passenger safety (CPS) technician or instructor to determine if it is safe and being used correctly.

The service is provided free-of-charge as a public service. Trained technicians will teach and assist parents and caregivers in everything they need to know to make sure their child’s car seat is installed and used correctly.

The technicians will inspect the car seats and will determine if the seat needs to be replaced according to department set policies and guidelines.
