Presenting the proposal at a city workshop, McAllen Parks and Recreation Director Sally Gavlik said the new complex would be a state of the art attraction for the City of McAllen and meet the needs of McAllen ISD, which owns part of adjacent property where it would be built. If commissioners approve the proposed design, the Parks and Recreation department could begin soliciting construction bids as early as this fall.
