The City of McAllen’s Community Development Block Grant program and the Affordable Homes of South Texas, Inc. are gearing up for the 16th Annual HomeBuyer’s Fair that will take place Saturday, June 7th from 9am to 4pm at the McAllen Convention Center. This is the perfect opportunity for residents to get their questions answered about how to buy, build and own a home. Bilingual seminars will be available to educate the public about the home buying process. More than 50 lenders, builders, non-profit organizations, credit counseling agencies and home purchase services will be on hand at the event to provide information and resources to first-time homebuyers. The event is FREE and there will also be a $5,000 furniture giveaway.
During the event, attendees will also learn how to qualify for different types of federal, state and local programs available. Workshops will be held throughout the day to provide detailed information on topics related to buying a home, including mortgage loans, credit scores and money management.
