The City of McAllen Transit Department will be hosting the Grand Opening of its South Broadway Park-N- Ride Facility located at 717 S. Broadway Street.

The Park-N-Ride is designed to help alleviate congestion in McAllen’s downtown area as well as provide additional parking options for patrons of downtown, whether it be for shopping, work, or entertainment needs.

“We are excited that the project is complete.  This should truly make parking more convenient for those wishing to visit our downtown McAllen, not to mention linking the facility to our public transit system, as well as Bike Share, which will provide additional transportation options for our citizens,” said Transit Director Mario Delgado.

Additionally, the McAllen Chamber of Commerce will open the newly renovated Consulate Row, which houses four consulate offices. El Salvador, Mexico, Honduras and Guatemala will all have offices on Broadway Street across from McAllen City Hall. The facelift includes new ceilings, walls and floors as well as a new air conditioning system to make it more energy efficient.

“We are honored to have four international consulates in McAllen and proud to grow the city’s diplomatic corps,” Mayor Jim Darling said. “There are thousands of Central Americans who visit or live in the Valley and consulate row provides them vital services. The foreign government diplomats are meeting a special need in our City.  This is just another example of McAllen truly being an “international city.”
