The City Commission encourages participation in the redistricting process. A public hearing will be held on the City’s proposed redistricting plan.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON

REALIGNING SINGLE MEMBER DISTRICTS

According to the 2020 Census data, the City of McAllen’s single member districts are not of sufficiently equal population and must be redrawn in order to comply with the “one-person, one-vote” (equal population) principle established by the U.S. Constitution.

The McAllen City Commission is considering new boundaries for its city commission districts and wants to hear from its residents.

Residents are encouraged to share their thoughts with McAllen City Commissioners regarding the preliminary single member district alternative plans.
