The Hidalgo International Bridge opened in 1926 with two four-lane spans connecting the Texas cities of McAllen and Hidalgo to Reynosa, Tamaulipas. Although the bridge itself is in Hidalgo, operations on the American side of the border are staffed by the city of McAllen.
