  • McAllen PD to Host Series of Rabies Clinics

    Pet owners are invited to bring their cats and dogs to a series of rabies clinics, hosted by the McAllen Police Department and its Animal Control division, March 3 to March 31, 2012. The cost for a one year vaccination for licensed pets, between the ages of four months and one year old, is $7.00 dollars. For a 3-year vaccination for licensed pets, over one year old, the cost is $15 dollars.

  • 29th & Wisteria Construction Resumes Through Early March

    The project is expected to expand restricted drainage at La Bandera subdivision and connect outfall there to the nearby Blueline Ditch. Construction has reduced traffic lanes on north 29th, near Zinnia park, and made the park spray ground inoperable until the week of spring break.   • Pulitzer Prize-Winning Columnist Friedman to Speak at UTPA

Friedman is the second speaker Wednesday, Feb. 29 in the 2011-2012 Distinguished Speakers Series at The University of Texas-Pan American. His presentation will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Auditorium.

  • Public Works To Launch "Bag It!" Campaign March 5

    Beginning March 5, McAllen Public Works will implement a new brush collection schedule and a new ordinance banning the use of plastic lawn bags for leaves and grass clippings. Under the new ordinance, residents will be required to place yard clippings in a compostable bag. Ahead of the change, Public Works will deliver 4 compostable to every household.

  • Park Facility Reservation Changes Begin Jan. 1

    Reservation policies for rental of park facilities have changed. Effective January 1, 2012, park pavilion rentals will be accepted up to one year in advance. In addition, a $50 damage deposit will be required with all pavilion and pool reservations.

  • UTPA Global Lens Film Series Begins November 10

    The foreign film series, first offered last year at the University, will include eight films with English subtitles from Asia, Latin American and the Middle East. The film screenings, which are open free to students, faculty, staff and the entire community, will be held in the UTPA Library Auditorium. Each film will be screened once a month on Thursday at 7 p.m. and Friday at 3 p.m. throughout the 2011-2012 academic year.

  • McAllen Convention Center Selects Ticketmaster For Events

    The McAllen Convention Center has selected Ticketmaster to provide comprehensive ticketing solutions for its patrons and fans. The switch over to Ticketmaster will completely be in effect this Thursday, December 2nd for both the McAllen Convention Center and McAllen Civic Auditorium.
