McAllen Only City To Grow In Jobs, Production
In a recent article by the Brookings Institution, tracking economic recession and recovery in America's top 100 cities, McAllen is the only metropolitan area to show growth in both employment and production, in the first quarter of 2009.
The MetroMonitor study examined employment, unemployment, housing, salaries, gross metropolitan product and the number of foreclosures. McAllen was among only a handful of Texas cities who made the top 20 list of best performers.
