Tens of thousands of people, from across the Valley, lined Main Street in McAllen for the 81st Annual 4th of July Parade and several more turned out to watch the Concert In The Sky fireworks display, in the vicinity of McAllen Memorial Stadium, on Saturday.
This year’s parade theme was "A Salute to Everyday Heroes" and featured colorful floats, marching bands, car clubs, veterans groups and a host of other entries honoring America’s independence.
Before the parade, the festivities began at Archer Park with special commentary, music, food and activities.
The celebration then moved to Municipal Park for a kiddie carnival, an aquatics show and then the grand finale, the Concert In The Sky fireworks show.
The colorful display, produced by the famous Zambelli fireworks company, could be seen for miles and was synchronized to music on local radio sponsor 107.9 KVLY.
