Place recyclables in your blue container for pick-up once a week or drop-off recyclables at the Recycling Center, 4101 N. Bentsen. Multi-family complexes are encouraged to bring recyclables to the center.

Workplace Recycling is Free!

Public Works offers dumpsters and automated containers to businesses free of charge. Four (4) cubic yard mechanized side loader containers with built in slots for cardboard are placed at commercial sites that generate a lot of cardboard. Blue automated recycling containers are offered to buildings, schools, and private offices to recycle mixed office paper.

Computer Recycling

We are NOW accepting computers and other related equipment such as CPU’s, scanners, printers and monitors. We all need to work together to keep these products out of our landfills. There is no fee for bringing these products to the recycling center. For more information on computer recycling call (956) 681-4050.


Cell Phone Recycling

City of McAllen Recycling Center is now accepting used cell phones. It is important to recycle used cellular phones. The old cell phone can be used to provide wireless communication those who are in need of it. Please attach the battery and charger to the cell phone if you have them. The rechargeable batteries contain a number of extremely toxic substances as well. Don’t forget to erase all address book info, etc.

Cellular phones contain a numerous amount of hazardous substances, which can pollute the air when burned in landfills. They contain chemicals that leak into our soil and drinking water. The cell phones will be recycled and or disposed of according to all EPA Guidelines with the support of the American Cellular Donation Organization.

Used Motor Oil

The Recycling Center accepts used motor oil and also issues free 5 gallon oil containers to do-it-your-self residents. For more information call (956) 681-4050 or (956) 681-4000.


Used Tires

Residents may dispose of used tires at the Recycling Center. Limit of 5 tires per person. Additional tires disposed of for a small fee. For more information call (956) 681-4050 or (956) 681-4000
