Mcallen Fire Department Donates Fire Truck to Reynosa

by McAllen Public Information | Jun 13, 2014

The McAllen Fire Department will mark the donation of a fire truck and equipment to the city of Reynosa at Central Fire Station, 201 N. 21st street at 3:00 p.m. on Monday June 16. The donation is part of a long-standing relationship between McAllen firefighters and their counterparts in Reynosa.

The unit has met its depreciation and has been replaced with a newer model in McAllen. The fire truck will be driven across the McAllen-Hidalgo-Reynosa Bridge by fire personnel. Mayor Jim Darling will participate in the exchange at Reynosa’s town square.

The 1989 Smeal fire truck has a 1500 gallon per-minute pump and carries 500 gallons of water to battle fires. A plaque with a special inscription on it will adorn the pumper truck to commemorate the donation to McAllen’s sister city.  Twenty sets of bunker gear and some fire helmets will also be donated to the Heroico Cuerpo de Bomberos Ciudad Reynosa Tamaulipas.
