McALLEN – The trio of McAllen firefighters that won the $10,000 prize in the Good Morning America 5-alarm Firefighters Challenge will be showered with support when they arrive at 6:10 p.m. on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at the McAllen International Airport. Their fellow firefighters have planned a water salute when the plane arrives from New York. Plumes of water will shower the aircraft as it taxies into the gate. McAllen city leaders and community members will also be in attendance to congratulate the national winners.

The GMA competition included a lip sync video entry, a firehouse recipe challenge, a trivia dunk tank face-off and a physical fitness contest. The McAllen firefighters plan to donate the prize money to the Texas Line of Duty Death Task Force, an organization that helps families cope with the death of a firefighter.
