McAllen Convention Center fountains under repair

by Public Information Office | Sep 04, 2014

The McAllen Convention Center is advising citizens due to unforeseen circumstances the fountains in front of the McAllen Convention Center are not operational because of water damage to the control panels. Convention Center officials say a water break inside the pump room destroyed the control panels and electronics.  Currently, the Convention Center is working with the designers and electricians who built the fountains to estimate a time table for the repair.  Authorities said the issues with the fountains are the parts are custom made. There is no expected date when the fountains will be restored at this time until the experts look at the damage.  We apologize for any inconvenience to the community because we understand the fountains have become one of the most photographed spots in McAllen.  We will keep you informed as soon as we have further information available.
