Local Agencies Team Up For DWI Enforcement

by Public Information Office | Jan 30, 2015

The Texas Department of Public Safety, Edinburg Police Department, and McAllen Police Department will team up to enforce DWI laws this weekend. As part of those enforcement efforts No Refusal will be enforced. The team enforcement efforts will be from Friday January 30, 2015 until Sunday February 1, 2015. The team effort is to promote safe driving with its education and enforcement efforts in our jurisdictions.

McAllen Police Department will have officers on regular and overtime status during this weekend looking for drivers that are drinking alcohol and/or intoxicated while operating motor vehicles in an effort to enforce DWI laws and as part of these efforts will include no refusal enforcement. In a refusal circumstance, Officers will conduct blood search warrants on suspects who refuse to provide a breath or blood sample.

The message is simple if you drink and drive you subject yourself to arrest and police will conduct a breath or blood sample and a blood search warrant on suspects who refuse to provide a breath or blood sample.

“Plan ahead if you decide to drink, then designate a driver or call a taxi cab to get home safely.” Do not drink and drive.
