McALLEN – The City of McAllen will host a news conference Monday, October 26 to announce enhancements to the McAllen Holiday Parade presented by La Plaza Mall. The parade is scheduled for Dec. 5, 2015. McAllen City leaders will inform the public of a route change and the parade theme.
Last year’s event drew a crowd of more than 200,000 people and this year City officials plan to build on that momentum, making it the can’t miss event of the season.
The City of McAllen took home the gold for Best New Event in the World for the McAllen Holiday Parade presented by La Plaza Mall at the International Festivals and Events Association awards ceremony. The City also brought home awards in the following categories:
Silver- Best TV promotion
Silver- Best Full Length TV Program (local)
Bronze- Best Event Website
This year, the parade will coincide with the two-day Christmas in the Park celebration, which also includes Tamale Fest. The signature event for the Boy’s and Girl’s Club of McAllen celebrates tamales, traditions and family.
