McALLEN-
Light Up the Holidays with McAllen. The community is invited to join McAllen’s City Commissioners for the 2nd annual lighting of the spectacular new 64’ Christmas tree to be on display at the McAllen Convention Center’s Oval Park.

The ceremony will take place Tuesday, December 1 at 6 p.m.  Musical entertainment will be provided by Tony Longoria & Maria D Luz, highlighting the event with Christmas cheer.

The grand tree is one of the newest and biggest additions of holiday décor displayed around town, just one of the traditions McAllen is celebrating this holiday season. The tree will be on display for the public to enjoy throughout the month of December.

The fun-filled calendar of Holiday activities in McAllen’s Oval Park this December includes the McAllen Holiday Express Train and Pedal Boat Rides for children and adults of all ages. Paddle boats will also be available to share these views in the Oval Pond.  The fee for each ride is $5 per person.

The McAllen Convention Center along with the McAllen Public Library will also host A Very Merry Story Time at Oval Park, a series of children’s book readings, to be held Saturdays and Sundays throughout the month of December.

Each scheduled story time will feature holiday themed readings with fun interactive songs, dancing and get-on-your-feet excitement for everyone. On Saturday, December 12 the McAllen Public Library will feature selections from their electronic book collection at 4:30 pm. Attendees can stay for Sunset Live which will feature live music, food, an artisan market and much more.  A Very Merry Story Time will finish its series December 20 with a reading of ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas.
