McAllen- The City of McAllen had another reason to celebrate Tuesday as construction crews broke ground on the newest addition to the McAllen Convention Center complex.

The 105,355 sq. foot, 100 room Home2 Suites is the second Hilton hotel in the area and is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2017. Aside from its proximity to the nearly completed Performing Arts Center, the hotel is within walking distance to a wide variety of dining and shopping as well as the beautiful Oval Park at the McAllen Convention Center.

Future guests can also look forward to the Shops at 29 development which breaks ground in less than 30 days.

“We’re so happy to have the change in landscape but certainly to have two Hilton hotels here at the Convention Center and making a reality of something we’ve worked so hard for,” said City Manager Roel “Roy” Rodriguez, P.E.

Home2 Suites prides itself in providing guests with the amenities and services they need to feel comfortable while traveling.

“Every Home2 Suites hotel was designed to incorporate features that take the extended-stay concept to a new level, including expanded community spaces, flexible room configurations and enhanced breakfast offerings that assure guests have a varied selection no matter how long they stay,” said Bill Duncan, global head, Home2 Suites by Hilton.

The venue features the Oasis lobby area, the Home2 MKT for grab-and-go items, the Spin2 Cycle, a combined laundry and fitness area, and free continental breakfast at the Inspired Table that includes a variety of morning favorites like a hot breakfast sandwich.

“We’re delighted to be able to bring this exciting new Hilton brand to McAllen,” said Hershal Patel, manager of Perspective Hospitality. “It will add to the city’s offerings and provides a new and exciting option for those needing a place to call home for a while.”
