McALLEN, TX- McAllen is setting the stage and has previewed opening plans for the four-level Performing Arts Center.  The City’s newest addition to the Convention Center District is set to open November 19th.  The state-of-the-art venue totals 93,471 square feet and seats approximately 1,800 spectators. The McAllen Performing Arts Center will have the capacity to host a wide range of performances such as traveling Broadway shows, concerts, dance recitals and symphonies sure to bring audiences from the Valley and Mexico.

Omar Rodriguez, Director of Convention Facilities- City of McAllen, commented “This entertainment venue is sure to redefine the experience of going to an event with its adjustable acoustics, audio, lighting, and stage support- that is just the beginning of the long list of impressive technology the center will provide.”

McAllen will be hosting a Community Day for the opening, November 19th, providing tours of the facility as well as a chance to experience local performances scheduled throughout the day.  Attendees will also learn more about what the venue has to offer our community.

The vision behind the $45 million Performing Arts Center has always been to create a dynamic venue that rivals any big city to serve the local community.  With this in mind, the MPAC will also be rolling out opportunities to be more involved with an “Ambassador of the Arts” volunteer program and “Memberships”.  The “Ambassador of the Arts” volunteer program will offer community members the chance to experience a list of theatre roles and act as representatives during scheduled events.  MPAC “Memberships” will offer a range of benefits to enrich each member’s performing arts experience by offering opportunities such as pre-sale ticket access, VIP Parking, and a member’s private lounge area.

More information about the scheduled venue performances and community day will be shared in the next few weeks.  For more information about being an “Ambassador of the Arts” please call 956.681.3800 or visit www.volunteersotx.org.  For more information on Memberships please call 956.681.3800 or email mpacmembership@mcallen.net
