Arbor Day Celebration Set for Saturday, March 4, 2017: It’s all about the trees

by Office of Communications | Jan 16, 2017

McAllen, TX Keep McAllen Beautiful will be celebrating its 6th Anniversary of the Arbor Day Celebration.  Get active, celebrate trees, and enjoy the beautiful Rio Grande Valley spring weather. The Arbor Day Celebration is a fun-filled day where anyone can participate in a timed 5K or 10K run; a Family Fun Walk along our Hike & Bike Trail; or a 25 mile bike tour. New this year is a combo event for those looking for a bigger challenge: run the 5K and then hop on a bike for the 25 mile bike tour.  All events will be taking place at Municipal Park.  Everyone is invited to come out and participate.

Arbor Day is a day to celebrate nature's gift of trees, the tall providers of shade, fruit, fun, and habitat for many different kinds of wildlife. This Arbor Day, come out and make a difference by helping establish a dedicated tree-planting fund for McAllen by participating in any of the events, and by learning from McAllen’s Urban Forester about planting and caring for trees. The event will feature a vendor area, hands-on activities for the kids, tree plantings, live band, and much more. Join us for fun, food, and some beautiful tree giveaways!

Together, let’s making McAllen greener, cooler, and more beautiful!
