McAllen Mayor Meets with State Elected Officials

by Public Information Office | Jan 08, 2021

McAllen Mayor Jim Darling has continued interviewing federal and state officials, discussing issues important to McAllen and the Rio Grande Valley.  His latest installment of “Meeting with the Mayor” features Texas Representative Sergio Muñoz, Jr. D-36 and Texas Representative Bobby Guerra, D-41, where they discussed the challenges that the COVID-19 pandemic will have on the session, the budget and how they plan to move forward with the state’s most important issues: health and education.  They also discuss their respective roles on committees.

“I really hope that these opportunities for us to chat about these issues show that local, state and federal leaders are all partners working for the same thing, which is to improve our community, and second, that we truly have the best elected officials representing us, whether that be in Austin or Washington, D.C.,” said Mayor Darling.

Mayor Darling has already hosted U.S. Representative Vicente Gonzalez, D-15; Texas Senator Eddie Lucio, Jr., D-32; Texas House Chairman Terry Canales, D-40; U.S. Representative Henry Cuellar, D-28; Texas Senator Juan “Chuy” Hinojosa; and Texas Representative Oscar Longoria, D-35.
